NEW Group: ‘Handbell Workshop – for Beginners’,
Initially this is an invitation to a first informal meeting, at which we will discuss everything of interest:
This will be on Wednesday 16th January, 09:30 (prompt) – 10:30, at the Colman-Redland Centre, Croydon Road, Reigate, RH2 0NA (next to Fire & Rescue Service HQ).
This ‘Workshop’ Group is intended for those who have neither Handbell-playing experience, nor any (or very little) ability in reading music – but who are enthusiastic, having seen and heard Handbell ringing, or have visited our main 3-year-old Group, which meets at the same Venue regularly on Friday mornings.
Plan is to follow a structured Course, using the ‘Handbell Handbook’, by Guy Ratcliffe (first published in 1997, updated by HRGB in 2014).
The Course is arranged over 10 Sessions, of suggested duration 1½ hours each; however, I’m thinking that it ought not be too difficult, in each meeting, to complete 2 Sessions, hopefully within 2 hours.
(This will usefully save time – and halve the cost!)
But this, and other arrangements, including start-date, timings and frequency, is what we will discuss together and agree. But they will be on Wednesday mornings, when the Venue is available.
I will also detail cost, which is required primarily to cover the Meeting Room hire. But, once started, it will be important that all participants do try to attend every meeting.
